Adventures in Math and Science
The Mary McDowell Center maintains an ongoing commitment to public
and family education about learning and learning problems. The Center
hosts an Annual Prominent Speaker Series in the fall at which experts
address important topics on learning and learning disabilities,
attention deficit, behavior issues, etc. for parents, local corporations,
professionals and community groups. Previous speakers have included:
Dr. Robert B. Brooks, Claire Wurtzel, Edward Hallowell, MD, Priscilla
Vail, Harold Koplewicz, MD, Jim Rein and Dr. Larry Silver.

Helping the Child with Learning Disabilities Find Social Success

Refreshments at 3:30 p.m.
Rick Lavoie will address the direct link between learning disabilities and social skills issues that many children face. In his presentation, he will provide specific strategies for parents, teachers and caregivers about how to assist the child in making and keeping friends.
Rick is a renowned educational administrator, consultant, author and creator of the video, How Difficult Can This Be? The F.A.T. City Workshop and many more award winning books and filmsrelated to the education of children and adolescents with special needs.

(CORNER OF SCHERMERHORN STREET and BOERUM PLACE at our
Lower Elementary Division site in the QUAKER MEETING HOUSE).
The Quaker Meeting House is 5 blocks away from the original location.
