MMFS After School Program

MMFS After-School Program

Mary McDowell Friends School offers its students the opportunity to participate in an afterschool program based in the comfort of their own school. It began seven years ago, as a one-day-a-week program with three students, and has grown and flourished to a four-day-a-week program servicing 65 students. The program is led by and staffed with experienced members of the MMFS community.

The program's goal is to enrich our children with structured afterschool activities while enabling them to socialize with their schoolmates. The program recognizes the needs of children with learning disabilities and allows them to experience a variety of activities.

The program provides a healthy snack, free play, homework time and assistance, and an activity 'du jour'. Activities that have been offered during previous sessions include:

In addition to the above, the middle school program fosters independence by providing an organized time and space for students to work on homework, while enabling them to socialize with their schoolmates in a comfortable and safe environment.
